The first launch came in 2013 with The Projects, ENT. The label released a thirteen-track project to YouTube and saw some progression. It was in 2017 when the label distributed its first track to major platforms. In 2020, the label was renamed Revolution In Progress, that’s where the label saw its first real progression, releasing eight EPs/albums, and its flagship artist Muntana working with MBK on its first album. In 2023, the imprint Describing My World was introduced, later becoming Cultured Currency in 2025. The label officially birthed October 4, 2024 as Substance Controlled. The name came from the charge Controlled Substance; a charge given to the founder eighteen months or so prior. The label has released seven albums, one single, and one EP and acquired ownership of Baby Booder’s debut album which released August 30, 2024 - ultimately leading to the label’s official launch.

  • DAIJON "Baby Booder" Munson // Artist

    Started out writing poetry, short stories, and remixes to music playing on his FM Radio in 2009, at just seven years old. His musical journey began in Ann Arbor, performing at local venues in the area code and interning at Neutral Zone’s Youth Owned Records. His first release was “Dazed”, recorded in Los Angeles under the name “BLXCK Diamond”

  • Muntana

    When Covid-19 started, he was just turning 18, ignorant to the industry, he knew he wanted to be the man of power and independence. He named himself “Muntana”, using Tony Montana as his inspiration. He released eight projects to major DSPs in under one year as a co-signed talent for the label before relocating to Inglewood, CA and going MIA in 2021. He resurfaced in 2026 as an MC on Baby Booder’s “P O I N T E”.

  • The Big Mammu

    Started off learning audio engineering in Neutral Zone’s Youth Owned Records in 2015. In 2025 he met Baby Booder, and provided him with over ten beats which Booder used for his album “Dark Paths To Light”, The Big Mammu was signed officially on June 11, 2025 - the album’s release date
